14. IMAGINE STRESSLESSNESS - 45 minutes
For this relaxation programme you will use imagery to aid you in the relaxation response, to do this you will use the technique of focusing on images which tends to symbolise stress, & then you will gradually let the stressful images fade & let them be transformed in more restful images. Using your imagination you will visualise your body as a tightened rope & then you will feel the tension gently easing away as you imagine the tension of the rope becoming slack & loose. As you soak up this pleasant sensation of relaxation you will use an affirmation to reduce stress from your life. The programmes concludes with a contemplation on the opening words of the Desiderata as you let yourself drift to the relaxing sanctuary music.
